HANKS
A bagel shop that earns its stripes from two very different postcodes: Armadale’s historic 19th century railway precinct and the streets of New York City. The brief was to honour both, and we didn’t need asking twice.
The existing building did a lot of the heavy lifting. Brick interiors, original pressed metal ceilings and a heritage façade were enhanced rather than erased. Textures were celebrated, not hidden.
Blue steel framework cuts through it all with crisp, contemporary confidence, creating a dialogue between old bones and fresh thinking that somehow feels entirely natural.
Bespoke handwritten signage ties it together with the warmth and wit that is pure Hank’s. Cosmopolitan without trying too hard, heritage without the stuffiness, and bathed in enough natural light to make even a Monday morning feel manageable.
